The Busway Accessibility Enhancement Plan (Busway West Plan) is an effort being undertaken by CCRPA to ensure the best possible utilization of the New Britain to Hartford Busway, a route that will allow buses to travel separately from the rest of traffic. The purpose of the Busway West Plan is to, with the New Britain to Hartford Busway as the centerpiece, plan for a transportation system that will provide as much transportation choice, service and efficiency as possible. Some of the key planning factors will be bus stations, park and ride facilities, accommodation of pedestrians and bicycles, community/economic development and land use. CCRPA will work with the Busway West Steering Committee to create, evaluate and recommend alternatives to be implemented to help the region best utilize the Busway. Activities will include public involvement, data collection, analyzing the impact of the new Busway, creating and selecting from a list of alternatives for measures that can be taken to utilize the Busway and a final report that summarizes the process and results.
The Steering Committee will meet approximately every other month until project completion. Currently the meetings are planned for 9:00 am on the first Wednesday of every other month.
