Assistant Planner
Assistant Planner sought for work on the following projects:
- Regional transit plan
- Development and modeling of bus route changes
- Campus transportation demand management strategy
- Transportation plans, studies, and projects
- Hiking/mountain biking trail development
- Urban tree canopy analysis and enhancement plan
- Non-point source pollution (e.g. transportation-caused surface runoff) mitigation
- Statistical and GIS-based analysis
- Fieldwork (vehicular, cyclist, pedestrian, and rider counts; turning counts, walking audits)
- Other projects and general office tasks as needed
Qualifications
The successful applicant will have Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university in one of the following or a related fields:
- Planning (urban, regional, or spatial),
- Transportation (planning or policy),
- Geography,
- Environment/natural resources (science, policy, or management),
- Civil engineering;
or Bachelor's degree in a related field with one years' experience; or other combinations of education and experience judged equivalent by the Executive Director. A Master’s degree is highly preferred.
The successful applicant will possess the following qualifications:
- Knowledge of transportation, including ridership modeling and optimization of bus routes/systems
- Knowledge of environmental management/science/policy
- Excellent computer skills, including GIS and scripting/programming
- Master of statistical and spatial data analysis
- Excellent speaking, writing, and proofreading skills in English
- Critical thinking
- Fast learner
- Familiarity with and knowledge of the region
The following is desirable:
- Proficiency in Spanish and/or Polish
Applicants MUST have the following in order to be considered:
- A valid driver’s license and vehicle
- PERMANENT eligibility to work in the United States (CCRPA is unable to sponsor employees.)
Full-time compensation will begin at an annual salary of $40,000 (35-hour workweek), plus benefits.

Planning Aide(s)
One or more part- or full-time Planning Aide(s) for work on the following projects:
- Regional land use plan update
- Transportation plans, studies, and projects
- Preparation, review, and submission of permits for the removal of a defunct dam
- Campus transportation demand management strategy
- Statistical and GIS-based analysis
- Fieldwork (vehicular, cyclist, and pedestrian counts; turning counts, walking audits)
- Other projects and general office tasks as needed
The following qualifications are desired:
- Excellent GIS skills, including digitization of hand-drawn maps, cartography, and geoprocessing
- Excellent analytical skills, including spatial and statistical data analysis
- High level of proficiency with ArcGIS, SPSS, Excel, Access, and Word
- Excellent writing and proofreading skills
- Critical thinking
- Fast learner
- Familiarity with and knowledge of the region
Applicants must be legally eligible to work in the U.S. and possess a valid driver’s license and vehicle.
This is a temporary position. The duration and hours of employment may be negotiated, depending on Agency needs, but shall not exceed one year and 35 hours per week.
Pay will be $15 per hour for applicants with an M.A./M.S, $12 per hour for applicants with a B.A./B.S., and $10 per hour for all other applicants. No academic credit, benefits, or relocation assistance will be provided. CCRPA is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
