Intern
Intern sought for work on:
- Dam removal. The intern’s primary responsibility will be to assist in and coordinate preparation, review, and submission of permits and associated materials for the removal of a defunct dam. (Feasibility analysis and engineering/final design have already been completed.)
The selected candidate may also be assigned to work on the following tasks:
- GIS and statistical analysis
- Comprehensive village planning
- General office tasks
The following qualifications are desired:
- Knowledge of fluvial geomorphology, hydraulics/hydrology, and riverine/riparian processes
- Familiarity with local, state, and federal regulations and permitting necessary and relevant to dam safety, flood management, river encroachment, and dam removal
- Ability to interpret technical reports and engineering diagrams and design sheets/plans
- Ability to understand and respond to regulatory language and guidance
- Fast learner
- Critical thinking
- Excellent communication, analytic, and organization skills
- Ability to manage and shepherd complex workflows to completion
- High level of proficiency with Word, Excel, GIS, and SPSS
