The Central Connecticut Regional Planning Agency (CCRPA) offers transportation to persons who, because of their disability, are unable to travel on CT TRANSIT fixed-route buses. The service is provided in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and is designed to provide disabled persons equal access to public transportation.
Paratransit rides may, at times, take longer than trips on public buses. Passengers who are able to ride standard public bus routes may wish to consider this option. To see whether a trip is possible on a public bus, and how long it would take, please enter an origin and destination below and click Get Directions.
To apply to use the service, you must:
Please e-mail your completed paratransit application and applicable medical form(s) to . If you do not have e-mail access, you can fax your paratransit application and medical form(s) to 860-589-6950 or mail them to address given in the application form. Incomplete applications will not be processed. CCRPA will respond to your application within 21 days of its receipt.

To use the service, you must be unable to use CT TRANSIT and certified as eligible. You may be eligible for the service if:
Not every applicant is eligible for service. (Eligibility is determined by federal law.) If it is determined that you are not eligible, you will receive a letter along with information on how you may appeal the decision.
The following is an overview. The Rider and Provider Handbook gives additional detail.
The service offers two types of trip reservations:
The service operates six (6) days a week between 6 AM and 6 PM, except in the areas shown in red in the map below, where it runs until 9:30 PM. There is no Sunday or major holiday service.
The service region includes all of Bristol, New Britain, and Plainville. The area also includes parts of Berlin, Farmington, Newington, and West Hartford; passengers wishing to travel to or from these locations must contact Abigail St. Peter prior to making a reservation to verify the address falls within the service area. The service region is depicted in red and yellow in the map below.
In addition to trips within the service region, the service also provides trips to and from the areas shaded blue in the map below. These areas includes all of Hartford, Cromwell, Rocky Hill, and Wethersfield, as well as the remainder of Meriden and Newington and parts of Farmington and West Hartford. All trips to or from these areas must begin or end in the core service area (red and yellow areas). The service does not carry passengers between points within the blue areas. For trips within the blue area, please contact Greater Hartford Transit District (GHTD).
Service is not available in areas that are not shaded in red, yellow, or blue, or to locations that service vehicles cannot safely reach. Transfers may be possible for trips to or from other locations served by GHTD and Middletown Area Transit. For more information, contact Abigail St. Peter.
The current fare is $2.60 for each one-way trip, or $23.40 for a 10-ticket book. Ticket books can be ordered online here or purchased from any DATTCO bus driver. Ticket books may also be purchased at CCRPA's offices if one calls ahead at 860-589-6950.
If you require a Personal Care Attendant (PCA) to accompany you on bus trips, the PCA rides free. Companions may accompany ADA riders but must pay the appropriate fare.
To schedule a trip, please call DATTCO at 1-800-997-0700. Reservations may be made by phone from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Saturday. You may leave messages outside of these hours; however, any trips you request by message are not reserved until DATTCO calls you back to confirm. If you leave a message and do not receive a callback by the end of the next day (Sundays and holidays excluded), please call DATTCO.
Due to factors such as traffic and ridership, paratransit availability and timeliness may be better during certain times than others. As the below chart shows, weekdays from 7:45 AM to 8:45 AM and 2:15 PM to 3:15 PM are “crunch” times. Crunch times on the weekend are 2:15 PM to 2:45 PM and 4:15 PM to 4:45 PM. If your appointments are flexible, we recommend you arrange not to be picked up during these hours. Doing so will guarantee you the timeliest pickups and shortest rides.
