In compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Central Connecticut Regional Planning Agency provides transportation services for persons who, because of their disability, are unable to travel on the fixed bus route system operated by CT Transit and DATTCO. This service is designed to provide persons with disabilities equal access to public transportation. You may be eligible for the service if:
To use the ADA service, you must be unable to use CT Transit and certified as eligible. For details, please see the application letter.
Many applicants are not eligible for ADA service. If it is determined that you are not eligible, you will receive a letter along with information on how you may appeal the decision.
The ADA service operates in the area described below 6 days a week during the same hours that the public bus service operates. There is no Sunday or major holiday service.
The ADA service area covers ¾ of a mile around all public bus routes. This includes all of Bristol, Plainville, and New Britain, as well as parts of Berlin, Burlington, Cromwell, Farmington, Meriden, Middletown, Newington, and West Hartford. The service area is shown below. Paratransit service is available in all of the areas shaded pink between 6 AM and 6 PM, except in the dark pink areas, where service runs until 9:30 PM.
The current fare is $2.50 for each one-way trip, or $22.50 for a 10-ticket book. All fares must be paid at the time of boarding. Ticket books can be ordered online here or purchased from any DATTCO bus driver.
If you require a Personal Care Attendant (PCA) to accompany you on bus trips, the PCA rides free. Companions may accompany ADA riders but must pay the appropriate fare.
