Paratransit Service Application

Eligibility

In compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Central Connecticut Regional Planning Agency provides transportation services for persons who, because of their disability, are unable to travel on the fixed bus route system operated by CTTransit and DATTCO. This service is designed to provide persons with disabilities equal access to public transportation. You may be eligible for the service if:

• You are unable to board, ride or exit from a Public Bus.
• There are no wheelchair lift equipped buses on the route you need to use.
• You are unable to get to a bus stop.

To use the ADA service, you must be unable to use CTTransit and certified as eligible.

Follow these easy steps to receive your certification application:

2. When you receive the application, it is important that you complete the entire form so we can provide you with the best possible service. Mail the completed form to the address above and we will review it, arrange for a face to face interview with you, and determine your eligibility.

3. Your eligibility certification will be based on ADA Eligibility guidelines. If you are approved, you will receive your identification card and a letter of instruction in the mail and you will be ready to use the service.

Many applicants are not eligible for ADA service. If it is determined that you are not eligible, you will receive a letter along with information on how you may appeal the decision.

The ADA service operates in Bristol, Kensington, New Britain and Plainville 6 days a week during the same hours that the public bus service operates. There is no Sunday or major Holiday service. Times for the service are generally from 6 A.M. to 6 P.M. with slight variations in each of the 4 towns indicated.               

 Service Area

The ADA service area covers ¾ of a mile around all public bus routes. This includes Bristol, Kensington, New Britain and Plainville.

The current fare is $2.50 for each one way trip. All fares must be paid at the time of boarding. A 10 ticket book may be purchased from any DATTCO bus driver at a discounted rate.               

If you require a Personal Care Attendant (PCA) to accompany you on bus trips, the PCA rides free. Companions may accompany ADA riders but must pay the appropriate fare.
